Death is an enescapeable fate that we must all face. It doesn't matter what we accomplish in life or who we fall in love with, one day we will all die. Everyone is dealt cards in their lives, and what we chose to do with them ultimately decides whether we are happy or not when our time comes. There are no do-overs in life, and once death comes to take us away there is nothing further that can be done to alter our previous actions. John Donne's Meditation 17, Edmund Spenser's Sonnet 75, and William Golding's Lord of The Flies each depict this theme and portray characters that understand the fate that will eventually overcome them.
